First Young Leaders Training Course of 2015/16 takes place on 26th September 2015
Lisburn and District Scouts first Young Leaders Training Course of 2015/16 took place on Saturday 26th September 2015 at Lisburn Cathedral, with Young Leaders from right across our District taking part in an exciting mixture of activities.
The Young Leaders’ Scheme is just one of the exciting programme elements in the Explorer Scout section. All leaders in the Beaver Scout, Cub Scout and Scout Section who are between the ages of 14 and 18 must be members of an Explorer Scout Young Leaders’ Unit. They are Explorer Scouts who choose to devote a large proportion of their time in Scouting to service in another section.
The Young Leaders’ Scheme helps Explorer Scouts to develop and grow as individuals. It allows them to make a valuable contribution to their community and give service to others. The scheme also helps them fulfil the service elements of their awards.
Thanks go to Paul Duggan, our Explorer Scout Leader (Young Leader), Andrew Stacey (AGSL Lisburn Cathedral), Ciaran McIlwee (CSL, Lisburn Cathedral) and to Colin Roy (ASL, Lisburn Cathedral) for organising and running the course, to the Clergy and Vestry of Lisburn Cathedral for the use of the premises but most of all to the Young Leaders themselves for taking part and making the course so enjoyable.
This is an significant development in our District and one we intend to build on. The photos below give a flavour of the day.
