The Brian Patterson Award for Personal Development through Scouting

The family of Brian Patterson very generously presented Lisburn and District Scouts with a cheque for £1,000 to create a small fund for the benefit of Scouting in the Lisburn and District area in Brian’s memory. The DC has been working with the family on the best way to set this up.  Brian is pictured above second from the left hand side.

For those of you who didn’t know Brian, he fulfilled many roles within the District and his Group 1st Lisburn in what was very long and distinguished service with our Movement. However, he is most remembered as a very keen advocate of training  – whether for adults or Young People. He was always encouraging younger members of our Movement to take up opportunities for fellowship with other Scouts and to take on active leadership roles and reach out to young people.

The family would like this work to be continued and we have agreed,  through a series of micro grants, it will be used to assist Scout / Explorers / Younger Leaders experience the benefits of attending an event that enables them to meet with Scouts / Explorers / Young Leaders from other parts of the UK /Ireland or globally.
